Since the 15th century, the sugar skull has stood as a vibrant symbol of honor, celebration, tradition, and festivity—used to remember the departed by celebrating their lives rather than mourning their passing. Originating in Central Mexico, these colorful skulls were created to decorate gravestones, transforming remembrance into a joyful tribute.

It is in that same spirit that Tucson Sugar Skulls Football was founded in 2019. Our Skulls—players, coaches, and staff alike—proudly embody the values that inspired the very first sugar skull more than 400 years ago: honoring the past, celebrating life, and embracing tradition with pride and passion.
